The shy kid eventually puts their hand up.
Maybe it's counting in front of class.
Maybe it's demonstrating one technique while everyone watches.
Then one day their school teacher notices they're speaking up there too.
Some kids barely look at anyone for the first few weeks.
Some have more energy than they know what to do with.
Some have spent years hearing what they're doing wrong.
We start somewhere different.
We look for what your child is already doing well, then build from there. For one Greenstone parent, that difference was impossible to miss. Her son had been suspended from school 27 times before karate.
Last year? Once.
His teachers noticed too. That's what can happen when a kid finally finds somewhere they can focus, belong and learn how to control what they're capable of.

Ages 4-8. Where it starts - listening, balance, coordination, confidence and new cool Karate friends

With teenage years comes times of venturing out on public transport and independence, prepare them with karate and close strong connections.

13+ years. Beginners, returners, and parents who got tired of watching from the side.

A belt here means your child can do what that belt asks for. We are a traditional Karate school, we put students forward when they've put the work in, not when a term ends or a fee's been paid.

Parents usually come looking for karate. Then they start noticing everything happening around it.
Some believe karate is just punching and fighting, perhaps even breaking some boards.
There's so much more to Traditional Karate. Our training includes self-defence techniques, Kihon (basics), Kata (forms), Kumite (sparring), spatial awareness, confidence building, discipline, etiquette and respect for yourself and others.
Students also have opportunities to participate in gradings and tournaments throughout the year, helping them set goals, build confidence and resilience, and continue progressing on their Karate journey.

Carl runs the dojo and teaches all the classes with the support of highly trained instructors. Every instructor has decades of experience to share.
We are not a franchise. We are a small family dojo that started teaching out of our humble family home garage. Now we are one of the fastest-growing dojos on the Gold Coast.
You're there for all of it. Parents stay for the whole class. You watch through the glass and you can see them, they can't really see you.
So you see what your child is like when they think nobody's watching. Whether they're listening. Whether they're having a go at something hard. Whether they're locked in or all over the place.

Four free beach trainings a year with a barbecue after. Christmas parties. In October 2025 more than sixty of us went to Japan together to train where karate started.
Our students of all ages' favourite activity is our fun, free beach karate training, held four times a year.

Turn up in a t-shirt and shorts. Bare feet. There's nothing to buy and nothing to pay, we hand out uniforms once you join. Tell whoever greets you if your child is nervous. It matters, and it changes how we bring them in.

The class is free. If they love it, we'll talk. If they don't, no hard feelings and nobody will chase you.
Every single person in that room had a first class too and don't judge.
It happens more than you'd think. Kids get to the door and freeze. What we do is calmly lead them in and do the warm-up next to them at the back of the room where nobody's looking.
Programs for kids, teens, and adults of every experience level are thoughtfully designed. Safety and fun making it a perfect activity for the whole family to enjoy together.
Carl runs behavioural programs in local primary schools and has years of experience coaching kids with additional needs. We don't introduce your child to the room as a diagnosis. We learn who they are, what they respond to, what they're already doing well, and build from there.Your child won't be the first.

Come and do a full class. Wear whatever. Nothing to pay, and no obligation to come back.

Kyle is a young koala who can't sit still and often feels misunderstood. High in the treetops he meets Master Roo, a calm and wise kangaroo who teaches him balance, breathing, focus, and what strength actually means.
It's the same thing we try to teach at Karate, in a form your child can take to bed with them. A story about courage, friendship and not giving up.
